Favorite Gigi's Cupcake
My reason for opening a Gigi’s may just be a little
different than most people.
I’ve always felt my purpose in
life was to help others. Just a little Midwestern philosophy instilled by my
grandmothers long ago. Caring and kindness ran in the genes, with a little bit
of baking skills thrown in the mix.
My education led me to an early career in teaching, surrounding
myself with more little hearts than I can count. In 2010, after raising twin
daughters and preparing to send them off to college, I found myself at a
crossroads. A quick weekend visit to Nashville found my answer to my next
chapter of life.
One look at the cupcake case at Gigi’s in Tennessee, and I
knew I had found my calling. It was love at first sight and then some!
After convincing my husband that he would make the perfect
taste tester, construction started on my little, very pink cupcakery in Madison,
Wisconsin. Opening in October of 2010, the response has been amazing. We have a
wonderful crew, who we consider family and who shine each and every day with
their talent. Of course we think our cupcakes are out-of-this world, but it
there. Because we are a franchise, I knew we needed to prove to
the community that we were still a small, locally owned business, who cared
about people. Yes, we want to sell cupcakes, but the biggest thrill to me is
being able to give back to our community in so many special ways. We have made
many friends with area charities and if you follow us on Facebook, you will be
hard pressed to find an event we don’t have our hands in.
In 2012, Gigi's Cupcakes honored us with the
"Marketing Matters" award. In 2013, we were honored to receive
the "Top Five In Sales" and the coveted "Swirl
Award". All of these awards were possible because of the strong
passion we have for building relationships in our community.
Quoting Gigi herself, “Our mission is to spread love one
cupcake at a time.” Somehow I know my grandmothers would be very proud.
